North Carolina artist Lisa Creed is a designer, a painter, and an adjunct professor of design and painting.
Lisa's Sea and Sky series "honors the numinous that surrounds us," and is influenced by the light and air of the coast of Maine where she grew up and spent summers. In her paintings, Lisa Creed removes all traces of human activity; there are no boats, no buildings, no people to distract from the true subject of the work: the open horizon, the joining of sea, sky, and earth.
In her abstract work, Lisa returns to her roots: abstraction. She works in layers of paint and etches back and forth to expose earlier marks and colors. Graphite is a new addition and one that allows Lisa to draw and make notes about what is going on around her. |
